Live on the Moon

At the moment I am loving Lykke Li. I have been aware of her music for a while now (since I heard 'Possibility' on the Twilight: New Moon soundtrack *ahem*). But lately I have been in need of some good indie chill out music as I havn't been well :( and the hauntingly beautiful voice of Lykke Li helps me to de-stress. I was youtubing her and in interviews she seems so lovely and down-to-earth; and her style is so laid back and effortless-chic which i love. I came across this live version of I Follow Rivers and it looks like she is on the moon, amazing!!

Road Trip

I was tempted to do a film review about Cars on The Midnight Picture Show, but to talk about the film as a whole wasn't the reason I wanted to blog about it. I adore Cars, as I do all Pixar films, because it is so sweet and endearing, comforting and easy on the eyes. So last weekend when I was 'recovering' from working long shifts and going to a friends birthday night out (Ok I admit I was extremely tired and hung over and was feeling sorry for myself in general) I took to the settee with my boyfriend, a big plate of spaghetti in hand, and settled down to watch Cars. I have seen it a million time, and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes! But what strikes me about it is the beautiful landscapes; the long winding roads through the dusty desserts and the lovely blue skies.

John Lasseter had the idea for Cars after taking a cross-country trip with his wife and children, and when he returned to the Pixar studios after the holiday he contacted a Route 66 historian who took the animation team out in rented white Cadillacs on a few different trips across the route to gather research and inspire the film. What an amazing thing to do for a job!! So right now I am dreaming about taking a long summer road trip

Sucker Punch

Right now I am loving everything about Sucker Punch; the film, the soundtrack, the artwork, the actresses, all of it. I am currently counting down the days until it's Blu Ray release. You can read my review on it here on mine and Natasha's pretty film blog

El Dorado

I love the film The Road to El Dorado, it is such a beautiful film and it was the first animated feature to use CGI in order to make the gold look real (rather than just a yellow/orange colour). It was the first film I ever bought on dvd and I have loved it ever since. This look is inspired by El Dorado, the City of Gold. Lovely maxi print dresses, turquoise jewellery (which is very on trend at the moment) and tiki style cocktails which get me in the mood for a hot summer, fingers crossed!

Candy Striper

Candy Striper

Inspired by all things super sweet and girly, with candy colours that make for an interesting summer look! I adore Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Lovers fragrances, they come in such cute dolly bottles and they smell like sweets, lovely!!

E.T.

E.T.

I have always loved Katy Perry's music videos as she has such a quirky and colourful style. But when I first saw E.T. I fell in love! It is so beautiful, set in space where Katy is a mysterious alien-like character, who transforms throughout the video. I have mentioned before that I love anything with galaxies and nebulas, which take place as the backdrop for E.T. which are just a treat for the eyes, and the colours are so rich; midnights blues, galactic purples, vivid pinks and bright blue-whites. I am loving anything with a starry print at the moment and this dress is just so pretty, and you could have so much fun accessorising with it. Katy's perfume 'Purr' is out now too, but I haven't had chance to try the scent yet but the bottle is super cute!!

Winged Messenger

You have got to admire the beauty and simplicity of 'Grecian' style. Washed out whites and golds, woven sandals and ornate headbands made of green vines and gold leaves (if you want to take the style to the extreme). Thinking about it makes me want to go and watch Clash of the Titans (both versions, old and new) and Disney's Hercules

Paleontology

Paleontology

I found this t-shirt whilst browsing Topshop; it caught my eye because of the really cool dinosaur print! It makes me want to go back to London to visit the Natural History Museum again, and it reminds me of an old school picture book that is filled with hand drawn illustrations that go alongside the text. I would definitely wear it with my beige River Island jeans, which are a favourite at the moment as they are comfier than most jeans and are a bit more fit for Summer than a dark denim. I love all the semi-precious rock rings that are on trend at the moment, as you can wear them as a statement piece but they are still pretty bits of jewellery. Also, it is nice to know that each rock is slightly different to the others of its kind so what you have is unique in it's own way. I have included another item that I would love to own and that is the Urban Decay Naked palette. My sister owns it and the colours are so lovely; I personally prefer nude eye shadows so this set would be perfect for me as I would use them all. It is quite hard to get a hold of so if you spot it then I recommend you snap it up quickly!

Hard To Explain

Hard To Explain

I've been listening the The Strokes a lot lately, and have just got the new album which I can't wait to get familiar with (i have to play new albums a good few times to get into). I havn't listened to them in years so I was quite suprised at how excited I was when I found out they had new material on the way. Strangely enough I was looking through the Wildfox website when I came across this cute pink t-shirt, and it instantly reminded me of the dinosaur in the Hard To Explain video! Im so easily amused... But anyway, I would wear it with black skinnys, my favourite buckle boots, a few statement rings and a slouchy leather bag. Pop on a pair of wayfarers and you would be good to go for a casual, relaxed day. I have used this Benefit palette in a look before but I can't stress how great they are for when you really don't want to leave the house without any make up on but haven't really got the time/energy to spend on beautifying yourself. Benefit palettes have it all set out for you, they are quick and easy to apply and you are left with a lovely, effortless look. The perfume is Diesel's Fuel For Life, which I use for day; it is a fresh fragrance with notes of blackcurrant, jasmine, mandarin and patchouli
